Apache2 Aliases to openspeedlite

I have been struggling with this for a while now.
In apach2 I have:
Alias /piwik /var/www/matomo

How do I transfer it? Tried turning matomo into a vhost but cannot connect it to example.com, tried putting it under vhost examole.com aliases but that didn't work.
Any clues anyone what I am missing?
